LIFT: Legal Insight for Future Talent

At Clyde & Co we know the legal profession benefits from diverse voices, but we also know how difficult it can be to get a foot in the door. We want to change this.

LIFT exists to provide fair access to experience in the corporate sector by opening the door a little wider. So if you’ve not been successful with our Early Careers programmes, or you’re not meeting the eligibility requirements for legal schemes, our LIFT Insight Weeks might be just for you.

These skills development programmes are open to anyone 18 years or older, no longer in compulsory education, and from lower socio-economic backgrounds via the Social Mobility programme and of Black Heritage via the Black Heritage programme.

LIFT Insight Week

During this paid 5-day hybrid programme you’ll gain an insight into a career in law, build confidence in a professional setting and establish professional networks. The programme consists of 2 days in-person in an office across the UK, and 3 days virtually, during which you will have access to panel sessions, skills development workshops and networking opportunities. You’ll be given consistent support and guidance throughout the week, alongside a mentor, who will continue to support you with your personal development after the insight week.

To ensure LIFT Insight Weeks are as inclusive as possible, we:

  • have no minimum grade requirements or strict eligibility criteria.
  • pay £500 for the week*.
  • focus on hybrid delivery to ensure the programme is accessible.
  • offer laptops, keyboards and any further tech supplied, free of charge, if required.
  • cover all travel costs reimbursed for the in-person days.
  • source and pay for accommodation for the in-person days, if required.

*tax implications may affect the total amount paid for the week. For further advice on this please visit the Gov.UK website.

For those unable to attend in-person days, we still encourage you to apply.

The Recruitment Process

  • Fill out an online application and answer a few motivational questions – that’s all!
  • We are interested in your enthusiasm for the programme and what you will be able to take from it and won’t be looking at things like previous experience and grades.

In the questions section, we want to hear what you think! We already know what generative AI tools like ChatGPT think. Deeply considered, personalised responses score best in this application.

Look at our Clyde & Co ‘About Us’ page to understand what it is like to work at the firm.
